Watch Sheree Emmons, M.Ed and Director of Coaching at InStride Health, discuss her experiences with exposure coaching for youth who are school avoidant. As a former public school teacher she understands how difficult school avoidance can be for the children, their parents, and the school community. She also understands how InStride can help.
Sheree Emmons started her career at the Adolescent Residential Treatment Center at McLean Psychiatric Hospital where she first discovered the pressing need for innovative solutions for youth mental health treatment. She realized that she was seeing the same children cycling through the residential setting, making significant progress in treatment, only to return to home and school where the lack of well-rounded care was evident.
It became clear to Sheree that schools and parents needed help in supporting these children. She went on to become a Social/Emotional Special Educator and developed two evidence-based therapeutic programs in public schools. Through these programs, Sheree provided school-based mental health support that has changed the trajectory for dozens of children and families.
Sheree is dedicated to helping solve the mental health crisis—and she joined InStride to help build a company that focuses on compassionate care and superior outcomes for kids, teens and their families.
